As for myself, i opted for ramen again. I have a weak spot for hokkaido ramen; they always look so tasty and alluring, and very filling too.
Look at the thick soup base!
This was Mel's Salmon set, a rather interesting combination with the salmon, fried pumpkin and the noodle look alike thing that was actually potato. Jap food with a twist to it, yum yum. And as for Susan, she always has the simplest stuff, so there you go, her beef Udon.
I can't wait to dig into this man!
We talked about the usual stuff over lunch, did some catching up while savouring the food and it was time for the cake. This year for Amy we decided on a different type of cake. We combined 4 different types of small cakes since we only had 4 people, and this gave us the choice to try more flavours as well.
In terms of outlook, i think the longan one looks the best haha, and flavour wise i actually prefered the orange chocolate one, when on first look, i did not fancy. Conclusion is, the cakes from this cake shop is delicious.
Our dear birthday girl making her birthday wish
And naturally, after the cake cutting session it would be present time!! Seeing Amy open the presents from us was such a joy. With every tear to the wrapper, her face will let out a glow of joy and appreciation, and what more can we ask for when we know the birthday girl truely liked the presents received. Furthermore, she is a very simple girl so whatever she receives (branded or not, useful or not) she is thankful and i know it comes from the bottom of her heart. We got her a bag, containing an umbrella, and a floral print notebook.
While Susan and I were walking around Carrefour yesterday, we came across this plush toy photo frame that we found to be very cute. So we thought of getting it for her as a additional present so that Amy can always keep the happy memories she has together with us. Its really cute and i feel like getting one for myself too haha.
Much love from Susan and Van
That marked the end of our lunch, and all of us had our own plans thereafter. So a traditional picture at the entrance before we bidded farewell to each other.
And finally, happy birthday Amy!
Muacks!
Round 2 of celebration was at Hard Rock Cafe. We finally had a change of place rather than the regular NUSS; and it was a pretty 'drastic' change from quiet to rock. It was a very refreshing change, and it was good to see my folks enjoying a different kind of environment. At the start, i found the music a bit too jarring because we couldn't talk properly due to the loud music, but once we got used to it everything was fine. We were seated on the 2nd floor which was not too crowded and noisy which made it feel like a private room we had to ourselves.
I had the cheese macaroni and i think it taste so much better than the one i had at white rabbit. However, its encouraged that that you share it with someone because too much cheese will be quite sick after a while. I shared mine with Evan and i still felt a bit 'gelat' at the end of my meal. Only thing i hate about it is why chicken breast??
This place is good for birthdays also because they give you a free sundae, and the staff will sing you a happy birthday song too. I know its no big deal but effort noted from the staff! They were really helpful and polite. The cake was brought there ourselves and since its not the actual day of my sister's birthday, we made do with a small one. But the cake was really yummy! Got it from the Sun Moulin at the basement of lido, the double chocolate cake, yummy!
Our happy family (stupid balloon string in the way)
Our complimentary polaroid photo
After our dinner we stayed on for a while to listen to the live band. The kids have never seen a live band before and i think they were pretty intrigued by it. The music was really good, and they can sing damn well! I could even see paps moving to the rhythm of the music. I feel very happy when i see my dad and mum enjoying things they seldom get exposed to.
That's the end of my Saturday. Birthday celebrations are always a joy. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as i did = )
