My first BBQ in Melbourne

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, been trying to complete my media law assignment that's why. Anyways, as promised, my first bbq here. Their style of BBQ here is more like our Singapore's hotplate kind of thing, not the one where we use charcoal and grill our food. This BBQ is organised by Sin mainly for her Secondary and college school friends, me and huey were coerced by her to attend-one to be her maid, the other her camera woman haha.

While waiting at the lobby for Sin to bring us up

The large function room they booked, and its free man!

They even have a mini cinema as part of their facilities, how cool is that!
Me and PeiYi
The indoor swimming pool
Nice chairs for you to slack in while taking a break from your swim
After the tour of the facilites, we now move on to the food and drinks part...
Waiting to BBQ
Naming our cups
Stupid yoke huey wrote this for me. Thought she was being kind when she offered to write my name for me but.... turns out she is still as mean as ever! Haha
Us BBQ-ing
See what i mean by hot-plate style bbq?
Guess what is this?
Does it look more obvious yet?
Yes! Its Roti Prata!
Taking some random pics after eating
And finally a group picture
That marks the end of the bbq. They had some trouble cleaning up the hotplate. It was so badly charred I thought they were going to lose the 250 dollars deposit. Thank goodness huey suggested to try using coins to scratch the charred part off which worked!(They tried using bleach before the coin method and the charred stain wouldn't budge) So I can now say, it ended on a good note = ) I still prefer the normal bbq in Singapore though, let's have one when i return!

Chadstone: the huge ass shopping mall!

This few days have been quite packed for me. From Thursday to Sunday i have been going out, so tired! Hmm i just look forward to days that i can stay home and slack the whole day, going out every single day can be quite tiring! Especially when i got school and assignments to think about. If this was my holiday, it would be a very different story.
So anyways, we went to Chadstone today! A super huge shopping mall, even bigger than our very own Vivo City. Had all the major brands there, and also the common brands as well. I didn't buy anything except for a tee from Guess. I saw a Koo Kai bag that i really liked but i didn't want to buy on impulse. I am still thinking of it though! Should I? Nevermind, pics for that day = )

Does the shopping mall look big? Its a bit hard to see in the pics but if you are from Singapore, you will find that the shopping mall is huge! Think you can spend one whole day there, but take note, it closes at 6pm. Saw some shops with rather interesting decor inside.
This was at Witchery-boyfriends would love this cause there is a large comfy cushion there for them to sit while waiting for their girlfriends to shop.
something cool hanging off the wall
This is the Roxy store. Don't know if you can see from the pic but the shopface is very narrow but long. Hmmm that woman blocked my view = (
A pink clock in one of the shops, so cute.
Was really tired that day so didn't take much pictures during dinner time. I got a assignment on hand now so i can't really blog much but the next entry will be my first bbq here in melbourne, should be the last too haha. So till then!

Just a normal night out...

Damn the stupid steamboat i went to yesterday, had a tummy ache almost right after i finished the dinner = ( I don't think its because the food is dirty, but maybe due to it being to oily. A good sign that i had a tummy ache as well, proves that my body got rid of all the oil and toxic haha. Anyways, some pics of during our dinner.

The yuan yang steamboat

Halfway through dinner
Its dessert time: Red bean cake
My tao huey, super smooth.
The dinner made the three of us super duper full. I even had ice cream after that, in summary, i just ate a lot on this night haha. Went to chat a little at Melbourne Central while waiting for PeiYi to get off work.
Me and Sin
After which we went for some tea at...
Tian Ren Ming Cha
Was hoping that after an oily meal the tea can help make me feel better, but we ordered more oily food instead! Deep fried pork ribs, deep fried chicken, and pan fried taiwanese sausage.
Greedy Sin!
Me and Huey
We sat there till about 1 something and decided to head home. It was a public holiday the next day anyway so the streets were pretty crowded. I don;t really like it though, makes me feel very insecure cause many of them are like high on alcohol so you seriously won't know how crazy they can get. Home is still the best = )

A message from a friend

I received a mail from Singapore today! Been waiting for this mail for quite a while, but i didn't expect it to be a A4 size envelope so i was very excited when i saw it. I love receiving things in the mail, it may be slow, but the feeling of opening up the envelope and anticipating what is inside just makes me feel so excited!

Anyway i got a really sweet card from my dear Susan. And coincidentally, i got one of my essays back today which i didn't really do well for. Was quite disappointed when i saw my grade but i am thankful that at least i didn't fail. When i saw the card she sent me, i felt even more encouraged, and I felt that God has allowed this card to arrive on this day for a reason.
Background info: A mail from Singapore to Aussie takes about 5 days, so i should have received it last week, but i didn't. And it so happened the last time we both sent each other something and both of us didn't receive it. So this time round, we both thought it got lost in the mail, but i actually received it today. Now i guess i know why the mail came today = )

The front of the card

This particular phrase caught my attention: "I prayed that he will be with you whatever you go through, and that his guiding presence will always shine his light on you".

To me, it feels like a kind of assurance from God, that even when i do badly, or when i face something bad, he will be with me. And the last paragraph was very very true. It goes..." I didn't hear God speak back, he hardly ever does...But deep within my heart, I'm sure he heard every word.

How true is that, and comforting as well, that God is always there and you can be sure that he hears every single prayer you say to him.

The back of the card with some lovey dovey message...secret!

Thanks darling for this card, i really like it a lot. Plus i love the picture as well! Very thoughtful indeed. Now we can be sure that our mail can actually get to each other and not be lost halfway like the last time haha. Many thanks!

Just for laughs

I just received an e-mail from a friend and i found the content rather funny so I picked a few to share with you guys. Hope this will make u augh after reading it. Feel free to share which one is your favourite "mistake".
1)
Hmmm, how are you supposed to keep your chair clean and in position after you died?
2)
Haha, how do you get stolen?
3)
Trim you foot or do you mean pedicure?
4)
I seriously don't know how they came up with this translation!!! I THINK it should be something like anit-cellulite essence or dead skin removal essence but definitely not "Eliminate horniness essence".
5)
They are asking you to go and bump your head, but they couldn't even spell carefully tsk tsk tsk
6)
This is my personal favourite! If a tourist didn't know how to read chinese, they will be thinking why will i want to feed the fishes with my private parts? Are you crazy??? Hillarious man. I think the correct translation should be, "Please do not bring your own food to feed the fishes".
7)
8)
If you do slip, you are already not careful. So how do you slip carefully?

Now i know why i am getting fat...

I think this is going to be a relatively long entry because i went to 3 places in that very night....eating and drinking! Haha, felt like a pig but i enjoyed the food very much, especially the Korean BBq that we went to. It was somewhere near Victoria Market, and a very small restaurant as well. But service was perfect, they were all so polite and they will constantly walk around to help u cook your food and also change your hotplate when its charred. They used charcoal as well which defnitely bought me over, sometimes traditional is good = )

Waiting for them to light the fire

Some of the food we had, and see the hotplate with a small fire blazing up? The charcoal was burning under, and on it was pork belly, fattening but yummy!

Still waiting....

After the BBq part was over, waiting to dive into our Jap pancake

I personally loved the Okonomiyaki!

Enjoying every bit if it
Ok, that was dinner, didn't get to take lots of pictures cause i was more focused on the food haha. But seriously i will want to go back there again for sure, not just another time but many many more times! I dunno why, but i really like that place, thanks to huey for reccommending.
So our next stop was for a drink at JWOW, its a wine bar or something; got attracted to the place cause of the interior decor and the large nice cushions that they have there. But before we could get our cushion seats, we had to tolerate sitting on high chairs for a while cause there were quite a lot of people that night.

Before ordering our drinks....

One of my fav pics of the night

PeiYi, me, PeiXian

Love that lamp = )

Browsing the menu

Waiting for my drink to come...that cup in front of me is not mine haha

Finally my Lychee Daiquiri came, i like the lychee scent.

Taking some kookoo pictures while waitin to be transfered to our cushion seats...

Don't hit me!

A normal one with PY, and i seriously don't know what the clothes hanger is there for.

More waiting...

and waiting...
and finally we got our large cushion seat!
Me and huey happy with the big pillows
Sin, you got sexy legs!
Huey, please don't kill me for this pic hahahah
This was not our last destination for the night; we decided on some chocolate treats. Headed down next door to San Churro for some...ya... churros haha.
The sisters placing the order
Acting silly
Waiting for order.19
Our churros, and the cakes there looks so irresistable, droolz.
Ok, that ended our long night, but you know what? Just the next day, we were going to Doncaster for Dim Sum haha. So piggish right? But its my last sem here so why not man. Anyway before we went to Doncaster we stopped by Boxhill to buy some groceries first, and Sin needed to get some cleanser stuff also. It was quite cool, imagine the wet market in a shopping center. No pics of it though, sorry.
The very few pics at Boxhill shopping center
Next to our Dim Sum place...
The entrance of...
Dragon Palace
While waiting for our dim sum, and PY stop acting intellectual la! Haha
Some of the dim sum we had
After splitting the bill, per person was 24 dollars but well worth. I ate so much but my faves were the spare ribs, chicken claws, sharks fin dumpling, pepper and salt beancurd. PY says we should go there once a month and i seriously don't mind! The thought of the dim sum is making me salivate again...Anyway we on our drive back to the city we were greeted with a very beautiful sunset that made the sisters very excited! So i shall end with that pic, hope u guys enjoyed this entry = )
